More than 8 percent mobile application developers favor iPhone

Market research firm Ovum, said Apple’s iPhone is the most popular mobile application developers smartphone platform, 81% of respondents said current or planned applications for the iPhone platform.

RIM’s BlackBerry ranked second, attracting 74 percent of the developers. Ovum pointed out that this show is targeting the enterprise market over the past BlackBerry has won the favor of consumers; Microsoft’s Windows platform, came in third, attracted 66% of the developers; Android and Symbian were attracted by 64% and 56% of the development persons.

Developers are not optimistic about Palm’s webOS LiMo and other smaller platforms. Only 30% of respondents said they would support a platform other than the five platforms. Ovum, said developers are still the most promising mid-market and cross-platform development.
